Jimmy Moreno Named Assistant Director of Public Works

The City of Las Cruces announces the selection of Jimmy Moreno as the New Assistant Director of Public Works.

Moreno brings more than 20 years of engineering experience and has served the organization for 14 years. Since joining the City in 2012, he has contributed significantly to Public Works through roles including Project Manager, Project Manager Supervisor, and Construction Management Administrator.

His leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence have been instrumental to the success of numerous projects.

In his new role, Moreno will continue advancing the Public Works department’s mission and supporting the development and delivery of high‑impact initiatives across the City.

Moreno is a graduate of New Mexico State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering, with a minor in experimental statistics.

He began serving as Assistant Director on May 11, 2026.
