NOTICE: The Museum of Art gallery will be CLOSED for exhibit installation from Tuesday, October 20, to Thursday, November 5. The gallery will reopen on Friday, November 6, with the new exhibit, Declaration/Declaración, including an opening celebration with several of the artists from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.
The Museum of Art hosts changing contemporary art exhibits and offers programs for visitors of all ages. The Museum also runs an extensive art studio class program, which can be found below.

Declaration/Declaración
November 6 – March 6, 2027
Declaration/Declaración explores the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence through juried artworks from 29 New Mexico and El Paso, Texas artists. These artists offer a unique perspective on this noteworthy anniversary by virtue of the fact that this region did not become part of the United
States until 1848. This provides them with a distinct experience which in turn influences their artistic expression.
For 250 years, Americans have considered the “certain unalienable Rights” of “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” promoted in the Declaration of Independence and how – or for some, if – those rights applied to them. The goal of Declaration/Declaración is to pose questions about the founding of the United States as a nation and how the original promises outlined in the Declaration of Independence have played out over time. The artworks in this exhibition are a powerful investigation and expression of the diversity, complexity, and evolving story of the American experiment with democracy.
