
Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire in a building on Mesquite Street.
At about 9 p.m. Monday, July 13, Las Cruces firefighters responded to a structure fire on the 700 block of N. Mesquite Street.
The first arriving crew encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from a detached garage. The first arriving crew performed fire attack with a handline. A second handline was deployed to the rear of the structure for exposure protection. A search of the adjacent structures found no victims. The fire was brought under control within 17 minutes of arrival. The fire did not spread to the surrounding structures.
No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
