The Las Cruces Fire Department will be conducting a graduation ceremony for the 39th Academy.

The graduation ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the Rio Grande Theatre, 211 N. Main Street in Downtown Las Cruces.

Fire cadets attending the graduation ceremony Friday include Jaime Borunda, Luciano Crespin, Riley Johnson, Sebastian Linares-Chacon, Dominick Moreno, Gabriel Nino, Andrew Sanchez, Quinton Weems, and Bailey Wilkins.

The Fire Academy provides 640 hours of field training and classroom instruction over a span of 16 weeks. During the academy, cadets received training in firefighting techniques, hazardous materials, vehicle extrication, technical rescue and fire inspection.

Beginning May 4, 2026, the fire cadets will complete another ten weeks of EMT-Basic training to become licensed emergency medical technicians.
