Meet the Author of “Finding Gobi” Saturday at Branigan

Dion Leonard – a seasoned ultramarathon runner and bestselling author of “Finding Gobi,” the fascinating true story of a man who crosses paths with a stray dog during a 155-mile race through the Gobi Desert in China – will be at Branigan Memorial Library at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

Leonard, along with his four-legged friend Gobi, will be at Branigan from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025. Admission is free.

“Finding Gobi” is the story of Leonard who was joined by a stray dog during an ultramarathon in China. The lovable pup, who would later earn the name Gobi, proved that what she lacked in size, she more than made up for in heart as she went step for step with Dion over the Tian Shan Mountains, across massive sand dunes, through yurt villages and the black sands of the Gobi Desert keeping pace with him for nearly 80 miles.

The story tells the tale of a man, a dog, and the lengths to which love will go to sacrifice for its companion.

Leonard’s book is a New York Times, Sunday Times and International Bestseller.

Leonard and Gobi will be in the Roadrunner Room, from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave.
