Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged an apartment on Nevada Avenue early Sunday morning.
About 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, firefighters were dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 1115 Nevada Avenue. Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke and fire coming from multiple windows of one apartment attached to a multi-family structure.
Firefighters entered the apartment, attacked the fire and searched for possible victims. The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes and was limited to the single apartment.
One resident was provided medical treatment at the scene, but did not require transportation. The American Red Cross was called to help find temporary accommodations for two residents.
The cause of the fire and estimated loss are still under investigation.
