The Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit issued 37 citations Thursday during a one-hour enforcement operation along El Paseo Road.

Of the 37 traffic citations, 13 were issued to motorists who were exceeding the posted speed limit and 11 to drivers operating a motor vehicle without proper registration.

Other citations issued Thursday included:

  • 3 for failure to provide proof of insurance
  • 3 for no driver’s license
  • 2 for using a cell phone while driving
  • 5 for miscellaneous traffic infractions

The traffic enforcement operation began about 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025. Additional traffic enforcement operations will likely be held in the coming weeks.
