The Las Cruces Police Department is investigating the death of an 80-year-old woman.
On Aug. 4, 2024, patrol officers responded to a welfare check on the 100 block of west Madrid Road. Inside the home, they discovered a deceased woman. Due to the circumstances of her death, it was deemed suspicious pending a thorough investigation.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section are now actively investigating the case as a homicide and have identified the woman as 80-year-old Maria Rodriguez.
