Las Cruces police have identified the teenager who died Monday after what appears to be a road rage incident near the intersection of Solano Drive and Spruce Avenue.

Alejandro Roman, 14, was shot at least once while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle. Preliminary information from the investigation indicates the gunfire was a result of an incident of road rage.

No arrests have been made at this time.

About 9 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, Las Cruces police and fire were dispatched to the report of shots fired near the intersection of Solano Drive and Spruce Avenue. First responders arrived to find Roman suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but Roman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and trying to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
