The OIR Group, the firm the City of Las Cruces hired in 2021 to audit the police department, will host its second community outreach meeting on Feb. 24.
The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at the Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St. The meeting is expected to last about two hours.
The community outreach meeting will serve as an opportunity for residents to connect with representatives from the OIR Group and gain insight into the purpose, function and types of services provided by the OIR Group.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions of the police auditors in an open forum and share experiences, information or concerns to help the OIR Group get a pulse on policing in our community.
Earlier in the day, the OIR Group will present its seventh semi-annual report to City Council during a work session that begins at 1 p.m. in Council Chambers, 700 N. Main St.
The OIR Group reviews LCPD Internal Affairs investigations into alleged misconduct and provides feedback on the accuracy of the findings. The firm presents its findings and recommendations to City Council twice a year.
