The OIR Group, the firm the City of Las Cruces hired in 2021 to audit the police department, will host a community outreach meeting on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

The meeting is set to begin at 4 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the City Council Work Session if it runs past 3:30 p.m.

The community outreach meeting will serve as an opportunity for residents to connect with representatives from the OIR Group and gain insight into the purpose, function and types of services provided by the OIR Group.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions of the police auditors in an open forum and share experiences, information or concerns to help the OIR Group get a pulse on policing in our community.

The meeting is anticipated to last approximately 90 minutes.

The OIR Group reviews LCPD Internal Affairs investigations into alleged misconduct and provides feedback on the accuracy of the findings. The firm presents its findings and recommendations to City Council twice a year. One of those presentations will occur during the City Council’s Work Session that begins at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26.
