Las Cruces Public Libraires is offering a variety of free computer literacy classes in May designed to help adults develop confidence in their computer skills and grow more comfortable in today’s digital world.

Each session is an independent class. There is no registration required. However, space and laptops may be limited. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops.

Classes held at 10 a.m. Mondays in Meeting Room 3 at the Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St. include:

  • Smart Phone Basics – Monday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn about different things you can do using your smart phone besides make phone calls. Attendees should bring their smart phone to class for hands on experience.
  • iPad Basics – Monday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn how to navigate an iPad and some of its apps.
  • Internet Basics and Safety – Monday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn what the Internet is and how to successfully and safely search for information.

Classes held at 2 p.m. Tuesdays in the Computer Training Classroom at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave. include:

  • iPad Basics – Tuesday, May 6, at 2 p.m. to 4 pm. Learn how to navigate an iPad and some of its apps.
  • Word Basics – Tuesday, May 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to create basic documents using Microsoft Word.
  • Excel Basics – Tuesday, May 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to create basic spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
  • PowerPoint Basics – Tuesday, May 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to create dynamic presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
