Las Cruces Opioid Settlement Funding Opportunity

The City of Las Cruces is announcing a new opportunity for local organizations to apply for up to $2 million in grant funding through the City of Las Cruces Opioid Settlement Fund – FY2026 Funding Opportunity. The grants will support programs focused on opioid treatment, recovery, and prevention, with the goal of addressing the continuing impact of the opioid crisis in the Las Cruces community. Funding for this initiative comes from national opioid litigation settlements with pharmaceutical distributors and manufacturers, including McKesson, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen, and Johnson & Johnson.

New Mexico’s share of these settlements totals more than $884 million, with a portion allocated directly to local governments such as the City of Las Cruces.

The City anticipates awarding approximately 10 subgrants, with awards starting at $200,000.

Funding will be distributed across two categories:

• Category I – Treatment: Up to $1,500,000
• Category II – Prevention: Up to $500,000

Programs funded under this opportunity will focus on:

• Expanding access to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)
• Strengthening warm handoffs and recovery supports
• Increasing early identification and screening for opioid use disorder
• Implementing youth and family-based prevention programs

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, behavioral health agencies, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, tribal programs, and local government agencies that serve Las Cruces residents.

• Questions Due: November 6, 2025, by 11:30 a.m.
• Applications Due: December 8, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. MDT
• Project Period: March 1, 2026 – February 29, 2028
