Mandy Guss

Mandy Leatherwood Guss, Communications Director for the City of Las Cruces, has been selected by Women We Admire as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders of New Mexico for 2024.

The acknowledgement was published in the Aug. 19, 2024, online issue of Women We Admire.

Guss has been Communications Director since September 2020 and oversees a team of diverse and talented employees in the City’s Communications Office, a multi-media crew that shares information online and through social media, news releases, advertising and a government access TV channel.

Prior to her role as Communications Director, Guss served as the Marketing Coordinator for Community and Cultural Services and as Business Development Administrator for the City’s Economic Development Department.  Guss currently serves as chair of the Junior Leadership Las Cruces program through the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.

The City’s Communications team has been recognized for its work with multiple regional and national awards over the years. Most recently, the team was named a finalist for five NATOA Government Programming Awards.

Other Top 50 Women Leaders of New Mexico for 2024 include Monica Torres, Interim President of New Mexico State University; Delfinia Salazar, Chief Financial Officer for Sandia National Laboratories; Yu-Feng Lee, Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, Applied Statistics and International Business at NMSU; and Fran Maier, CEO and Founder of BabyQuip.

Women We Admire is a membership organization, “comprised of the most accomplished women executives and leaders across the U.S. and Canada.” Women We Admire provides news and information on women leaders in business, entertainment, sports, motherhood, medicine, law and many other fields.
