Las Cruces Utilities Solid Waste has announced that the Green Waste, Compost, and Clean Fill Facility (Foothills Landfill), located at 555 Sonoma Ranch Blvd., will be temporarily closed for the installation of new scales on Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

This closure is intended to enhance operational efficiency and improve services to the community.

During the closure, residents and businesses will be unable to drop off green waste, compost, or clean fill at the facility. Las Cruces Utilities apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the public’s understanding.

As an alternative, community members are encouraged to use the Amador Avenue Transfer Station, located at 2865 W. Amador Ave., for green waste, compost, and clean fill disposal. For current hours of operation, contact South Central Solid Waste Authority at (575) 528-3800, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or visit https://www.scswa.net.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to plan accordingly and use these alternative compost and recycling options during the temporary closure. For additional information, visit the City of Las Cruces Solid Waste Collections website at https://www.lascruces.gov/solidwaste, or contact the Solid Waste office at (575) 541-2111/TTY 711, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Thank you for the community’s cooperation and support as facility improvements are made to better serve Las Cruces.

For further information, contact the Las Cruces Utilities Department, Solid Waste section, at (575) 541-2111/TTY 711.
