
Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged a home Sunday morning on Mesquite Street.
Just after 5:30 Sunday morning, firefighters responded to a call for a structure fire on the 700 block of Mesquite Street.
Arriving crews reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the windows and the rear of the structure. They reported hoarding conditions upon entry and determined the home to be an abandoned building. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes of arrival.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
