Las Cruces police will be on the lookout for impaired drivers during the month of July.
LCPD will conduct at least one sobriety checkpoint and one saturation patrol within city limits. Officers will also be patrolling for other traffic safety violations such as drivers using cell phones, and those who fail to properly utilize seatbelts and child safety seats.
Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols conducted by LCPD are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated or impaired.
Las Cruces police encourage those who consume alcohol, cannabis or drugs to utilize a ride-share or designated driver – someone who will not be under the influence – for their transportation needs.
