A photo of seven councilors

Las Cruces City Councilors met Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, and approved resolutions transferring ownership of five dispenser liquor licenses.

By law, the New Mexico Alcoholic Beverage Control Division requires local government entities to conduct a public hearing for each liquor license transfer. Council held five consecutive public hearings, as part of Tuesday’s meeting, and approved the five transfers.

Liquor license approvals are for package sales only. All five liquor licenses were transferred from Brewer Oil Company to New Mexico Company Operations, LLC.

The five New Mexico Company Operations include:

  • Nacho Shell, 2512 E. Lohman Ave.
  • University Shell, 1305 S. Solano Dr.
  • Country Club Shell, 2901 N. Main St.
  • Triviz Shell, 3040 N. Main St.
  • Holiday Shell, 2645 S. Valley Dr.

In other business, Council approved a resolution urging the New Mexico legislature to create an alcohol harms alleviation fund.

Tuesday’s meeting was held Feb. 4, instead of Monday, Feb. 3, to accommodate City staff and elected officials who traveled to Santa Fe for Las Cruces Day at the 2025 New Mexico Legislative Session.

City Council regular meetings and work sessions can be viewed on the City’s YouTube Channel. Councilors will next meet in a work session at 1 p.m.  Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at Council Chambers, 700 N. Main St.
