In observance of the Memorial Day Holiday, most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026. However, all emergency services, including police and fire will operate as usual.

City offices and facilities CLOSED on Memorial Day include:

All Senior Programs facilities and services

All Transit operations and facilities
A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven
City Hall
Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center

Youth Development and Diversion
Meerscheidt Recreation Center (League Play will Continue)
South Central Solid Waste Authority Administrative offices
Foothills Landfill
Castaneda Parks & Recreation Administration Office

City offices and facilities OPEN on Memorial Day, with hours if any, includes:

Solid Waste Commercial Collections will run as normal on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Solid Waste Residential Collections, including grappler service, will run as normal on Monday, May 25, 2026.
The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for material drop-off. (Dona Ana County Collection Sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Corralitos Landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E Hadley Ave:
Fitness swim 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Two open swim sessions: noon to 3 p.m. and from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Las Cruces Natatorium 1405 E Hadley Ave:
6 – 11 a.m.
Outdoor swimming open Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day is a FREE SWIM day at both OUTDOOR pools.

  • East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool, 6141 Reynolds Drive:
    • Two open swim sessions: noon to 3 p.m. and from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Laabs Pool, 701 W. Picacho Avenue:
    • Two open swim sessions: noon to 3 p.m. and from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
