Police Investigate Murder-Suicide in Las Cruces

Police are continuing to investigate a murder-suicide that occurred Saturday morning in Las Cruces.

About 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, Las Cruces police were dispatched to a home on the 4100 block of Calle Libertad where officers located a 30-year-old woman and 46-year-old man deceased. The woman was identified as Angelica Aguirre while police identified her boyfriend as Shane Perez.

Las Cruces police investigators believe Perez shot Aguirre before turning the gun on himself. The couple had five children, ranging in age from 3-14, who were in the home at the time of the incident.

New Mexico’s Children, Youth and Families Department assisted in placing temporary custody of the children with a relative.
