Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols to be Held in August

Keeping impaired drivers off the roadways will be a top priority for Las Cruces police in August.

The Las Cruces Police Department will conduct at least two saturation patrols and one sobriety checkpoint within city limits in August 2026. Officers will also be on the lookout for other traffic safety violations such as drivers using cell phones, and those who fail to properly utilize seatbelts and child safety seats.

Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated or impaired.

Las Cruces police encourage those who consume alcohol, cannabis or drugs to utilize a ride-share or designated driver – someone who will not be under the influence – for their transportation needs.
