Las Cruces Public Libraries invite you to participate in the Dancing Romances movie marathon.

February’s theme is romance with a focus on dancing. The movie marathon will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the Kiva Room on the first floor of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, located at 200 E. Picacho Avenue, RoadRUNNER Transit route 1.

The marathon will begin at 11 a.m. with a 1978 musical starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John (rated PG). The second movie begins at 1 p.m. This 1984 movie stars Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer and is set in a town where dancing is outlawed (rated PG). The third movie begins at 3 p.m. This classic from 1987 stars Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, dancing in the Catskills during the 1960s (rated PG-13).

As always, this movie series is free and open to the public. We encourage you join in for the entire marathon or for just one movie. You’re welcome to bring light snacks. For movie titles check out our calendar of events at https://las-cruces.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/.

Upcoming First Saturday Movie Marathons schedule:

  • March will feature four classic films of the 1980s
  • April will celebrate the start of baseball season
  • May will welcome the change of seasons with a trio of tornado movies
