Fast-acting Opioid Overdose Reversal Medication
The Las Cruces Fire Department was allocated $82,200 for a two-year funding cycle for fast-acting opioid overdose reversal medication.
In the first year, 30 boxes of 10 Naloxone 2mg luer-jet syringes were purchased for emergency response crews in the Las Cruces Fire Department. These syringes can administer life-saving medication intermuscular, subcutaneously, IO, or intranasal via an atomizer.
600 boxes of Narcan were purchased. 42 cases of 12 were provided to Las Cruces Police Department as police officers are often first on scene at overdose calls. The Las Cruces Fire Department LIGHT Program was given eight cases for Narcan Leave Behind and to replenish an officer’s reserve after administration in the field.
