The City of Las Cruces Quality of Life/Public Art Program, in partnership with the Fire Department, invited the public to vote for their favorite mural design. Artists submitted concept designs that paid homage to the work of firefighters with a reference to the history of the neighborhood known as “Chiva Town”.
The winning mural design will be painted on Fire Station 2 located at 1199 E. Foster Rd which serves Chiva Town and south Las Cruces.
Option A (shown below) by artist Faridi Buhaya received the most votes by the public. She has won the commission and will begin the project as soon as possible.
