Lateral Officer Hiring Incentive: $30,000

Lateral Officer Payout Schedule Amount
At Hire $10,000
At the Completion of Field Training $10,000
Completion of One-year probationary period  $10,000
Additional relocation assistance incentive based on eligibility. $5,000

Pay Scales:

  • POF 1 /AT HIRE 26.15 Current pay set to increase up to 28.83 within two years
  • POF 2 /YEAR 3 27.36 Current pay set to increase up to 30.17 within two years
  • POF 3 /YEAR 5 28.64 Current pay set to increase up to 31.58 within two years
  • POF 4 /YEAR 8 29.98 Current pay set to increase up to 33.05 within two years
  • POF 6 /YEAR 11 31.38 Current pay set to increase up to 34.60 within two years

5% Increase with Detective and FTO

Match year for year up to 8 years

Requirements

  • Any drug usage since obtaining a peace officer certification will disqualify
  • No marijuana or cannabis use after application to our academy is submitted
  • Must have current law enforcement certification that is issued or recognized and approved by NMDPS
  • One year of experience for applicants who possess a current NMDPS law enforcement certification. (not including academy time)
  • Out of State applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a certified peace officer (not including academy time)
  • Must have never transported illegal drugs
  • Must not have a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Military
  • Must successfully complete all selection process steps
  • New Mexico certified law enforcement officers preferred
  • No convictions of domestic violence
  • No misdemeanor convictions in the last 3 years
  • Salary ranges
  • Successfully complete the LCPD Field Training and Evaluation Program (up to 14 weeks)
  • Successfully complete LCPD Lateral Academy
  • Twenty-One years of age
  • U.S. citizen (born or naturalized)
  • United States high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Will be required to successfully complete a 1-year probationary period after being hired
