The Parks and Recreation Department will host weekly hiking and walking events in April and May.

Hiking Trails in the Southwest will take place on Fridays from April 11 through May 23, 2025, at various locations. Hikers and walkers of all ages, whether beginners or experienced, are welcome to participate in these outings for social engagement and health improvement.

Participants must register no later than the day prior to their selected hiking event.

In-person registration is available at the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave. Online registration is available online by clicking the Adult and Family Programs tab.

Participants should wear comfortable, appropriate footwear and be prepared for the weather with hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of water. Some locations may require a parking pass.

Each hiking and walking activity begins at 9 a.m. and includes:

  • Meet-up location: The parking lot accessed from University Avenue/Dripping Springs Road, just east of the Sonoma Ranch Boulevard intersection (west side of “A” Mountain)
