The Parks and Recreation Department’s Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program will host a Neighborhood Dumpster Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.

KLCB will provide open-top trash containers for the community to dump yard waste, household trash and other permittable items for free. KLCB staff will be available to provide support, information and help guide users on what can or cannot be dumped into the containers.

Household trash open-top container locations: 

  • East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Dr.
  • Young Park, 850 S. Walnut St.
  • Motel Boulevard and Westway Avenue, 674 North Motel Blvd.

Items not allowed in a solid waste container are: 

  • Medical Waste (per section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of the New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations)
  • Hot ashes/coals
  • Tires or any vehicle parts (including car batteries)
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Large yard waste items (stumps or trunks)
  • Concrete, bricks and rocks
  • Toxic, combustible or hazardous materials
  • Toilets and sinks
  • Refrigerators (anything with refrigerant)
  • Animal Carcasses

Locations of open-top containers will be monitored. Residents must unload their items.
