Truck by a dumpster

The Parks and Recreation Department’s Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program is hosting a Neighborhood Dumpster Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

KLCB will provide open-top trash containers at three locations for members of the community to dump yard waste, household trash and other permittable items for free. KLCB staff will be available to provide support, program information and guide users regarding what items can be tossed into the containers.

Household trash open-top container locations:

  • Tony Gomez Park, 2283 S. Espina St.
  • Henry R Benavidez Community Center, 1045 McClure Rd.
  • East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Dr.

Items not allowed in a solid waste containers include:

  • Medical Waste
  • Hot ashes/coals
  • Tires, vehicle parts and car batteries
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Large yard waste items like stumps or tree trunks
  • Concrete, bricks and rocks
  • Toxic, combustible or hazardous materials
  • Toilets and sinks
  • Refrigerators or anything with refrigerant
  • Animal Carcasses

Locations of open-top containers will be monitored. Residents must unload their own items.
