Attendees will have the opportunity to view the updated conceptual zoning map, which includes residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Additionally, there will be explanations of the different character areas such as urban, suburban, rural, open space, business park, and industrial. Information on mixed-use and town center corridors will also be provided. Importantly, there will be an open forum for community members to provide feedback and ask questions, ensuring that public input is a central part of this process.
Realize Las Cruces is focused on amending existing zoning regulations, the zoning map, subdivision regulations, sign regulations, and design standards. The update aims to streamline and simplify development procedures to ensure clear and efficient processes. This initiative is guided by the policies and actions identified through the Elevate Las Cruces comprehensive plan process.
The primary goal of the code update is to implement the vision established within the Elevate plan, making the Development Code more user-friendly and ensuring compliance with State regulations. The last update to the code was in 2001, making this a significant step towards modernizing and improving the development framework of Las Cruces.
