Return to Owner

The Animal Control Officers are equipped with microchip readers capable of reading most of the microchips in use today. The officers will make every reasonable attempt to return a dog or cat to its owner if the animal has an implanted working microchip with up-to-date owner information or if the animal is displaying a current pet license, rabies vaccination, or any other tag which provides the owner’s name, address and/or phone number on a collar or harness.

Citation

If contact is made with the animal owner, the owner must ensure proper care and maintenance is provided for the animal, and that the animal will not escape the property again. Upon receiving their animal(s) back the owner is subject to a citation(s) for failure to comply with current CLC Municipal Ordinance Chapter 7, Animals.

All impounded animals not able to be returned to the owner will be taken to the ASCMV.
