Biography
Becky grew up in a working-class home in rural western Pennsylvania, including ten years as a 4-Her and working a number of jobs, like babysitting and cashiering. Becky attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Biology. Later, Becky graduated with a Master’s of Public Health from the University of Arizona with a focus on Community Health Policy.
In her twelve years in Las Cruces, Becky teaches at Doña Ana Community College, where her courses focus on personal and community health, and advises students seeking careers in public health. Recently, Becky consulted with the Project Firstline training program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to train frontline health care workers in infection control practices.
With twenty years of experience in public health and education, Becky has worked with diverse communities and focused her work on education, access and equity. Specifically, she has worked on LGBTQ+ advocacy; animal rescue; farmworker health and equity in education. She has served as a member for ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) and Emerge New Mexico Boards of Directors.
Values & Hopes
Relationship building and upstream strategies have been the center of Becky’s work, and she will extend those values to her work as a Las Cruces City Councilor. Specifically, as Councilor, she will:
- Think and act strategically to match resources with needs to build a sustainable, thriving Las Cruces.
- Work with residents, especially those who have been historically marginalized, of District 5 to identify opportunities for a more healthy, equitable and accessible city.

All powers of the city shall be vested in the council, except as otherwise provided by law or this Charter, and the council shall provide for the exercise thereof and for the performance of all duties and obligations imposed on the city by law.
