Purpose
To ensure that all City-owned parks and recreation facilities are made available on an equitable basis to individuals, groups, and organizations residing within the City of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, New Mexico.
Policy
Priority for use will be given to year-round recreational programs directly sponsored and/or co-sponsored by the City of Las Cruces. The School District will have next priority for use of fields and facilities. All individuals, groups and organizations must abide by all facility and City of Las Cruces rules and regulations, the Municipal Code, and must obtain special permits if such are required (i.e, Sound Permits). Refer to Las Cruces Municipal Code (LCMC), Chapter 20, Parks and Recreation, Article 1. In General, Section 20-1.
Application Process
- Select the location of a Park, Facility, Sports Field, or Aquatic Facility that you would like to request a reservation for.
- Check the availability date of the location you are requesting with the Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices. Administrative offices are located at 1501 E. Hadley Ave. We can also be reached at (575) 541-2550.
- If the selected date is available, a permit application will need to be submitted to the Administrative Offices, at least 2 weeks in advance of reservation.

Practice Field Reservation Guidelines:
- Fields available for practice – Burn Lake Soccer, High Noon Soccer fields (1 – 7), Paz Park, Ron Galla T Ball, Maag, Provencio Van Dame, Harty Field, Apodaca Baseball and Softball and East Mesa Sports. All fields will be rentable depending on availability to include any maintenance work/repair.
- Reservations are taken on first come, first served basis. Reservations are $10/hr per field. Lights can be requested at the time of reservation. Field lining/pitching mounds are not available for practice.
- Practice reservations – Up to 2 hours, 2 times a week, per team. Reservations will not exceed 2 hours. Fields will be open for your reservation by 4 p.m. for practice.
- No team can reserve more than 2 times per week.
- Reservations are taken Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in person. Online registrations are currently only available on Mondays 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- New practice reservations become available each Monday and can be booked for the following Monday – Sunday.
- To permit a field, the requestor must be a Coach, Manager or Assistant Coach of the team. Coaches/Managers with more than one team will need to send an Assistant Coach to reserve field space.
- Teams are not allowed to share reservations. If a scrimmage/league play or tournament is requested, please fill out a Sport Field Request permit 2 weeks in advance for scheduling purposes.
- Sports fields will be available for rental February 1st – November 30th. Teams that have a blanket permit to host league play daily/weekly should coordinate with City staff and their coaches when fields will be unused. If you are notified of a field being released for practice, you must register and pay for field space.
*Requesting party is responsible for policing area for litter and cleanliness. If it is determined by the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department that deterioration of the fields, or abuse of the fields is present, all practice requests will be ceased at that time. Fees may be incurred for damages and practice reservations may be suspended.
- Teams will need to be covered by their respective league liability certificate/insurance.
- Please have payment receipt on site during your reservation.
- Permits are not taken via phone call.
Cancellations: Practice times will only be cancelled by staff due to inclement weather. Practices cancelled by the user, other than inclement weather, will not be given a refund or credit.
Refunds: All refunds must be submitted within 24 hours of cancellation or conflict. Call or leave a voicemail with the Parks & Recreation Administration Office at 575-541-2550.
