Title: Second Sight

Artist: Citlali Delgado

Bus Shelter Location: Valley Drive and Hadley Avenue, near Save Mart store.

Statement: I am a Chicana visual artist who creates work to bring awareness to the social, cultural, and political conflicts people of the U.S./Mexico borderland regions face. Through painting, my focus predominantly revolves around impacts of the Chihuahuan desert. I work to maintain a balance of also celebrating the successes that comes along with the engagement of two cultures as I acknowledge a pro-migrant and immigrant community with presence in academic spaces. I emit work that explores identity as an indigenous person away from my motherland in Mexico and figure how my experiences correlates to those forcibly fleeing theirs, only to hit a militarized barrier. I create to educate my audience, hold problematic systems accountable, empower women, and uplift Latinos through representation. I visually fight battles to manifest a world that can be experienced by all because we should be building bridges not borders.

Art Stop Bus Shelter Public Art Exhibit was created by the City Art Board for the purpose of making art more accessible to community members and enhancing the everyday experience of our public spaces.
