Branigan Cultural Center: Call for Exhibit Proposals Opens Soon!

Branigan Cultural Center will be accepting proposals for exhibitions focusing on themes of cultural and historical significance related to the Borderlands and the U.S. Southwest. Selected exhibits will be displayed in 2026.

We are particularly interested in submissions that explore the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, aligning with themes set by the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH), including:

  • Unfinished Revolutions
  • Power of Place
  • We the People
  • American Experiment
  • Doing History

Submission Details

Submission Window: April 1 – May 16, 2025
How to Apply: Proposals must be submitted via SurveyMonkey (link available starting April 1).
Who Can Apply? We welcome submissions from scholars, cultural heritage organizations, and artists (solo or group).

Proposal Requirements

  • Brief narrative outlining the exhibit theme
  • Statement from the scholar, artist, or group
  • 5–10 images (jpg/png) of proposed objects or artwork
  • Space requirements (linear and/or square footage)

Note: Exhibitions typically run for 8–12 weeks. Incomplete or late proposals will not be accepted.

Previous exhibits have highlighted historical and artistic perspectives, including:

  • Historic theaters in the Mesilla Valley
  • Ballard Photo Studio’s historic photographs
  • The impact of water on the Borderlands
  • Día de los Muertos artistic explorations
  • Graphic posters examining U.S. immigration policies
