Library of Things and The Makerspace

Art Smarter, Not Harder!

Welcome to ALICE – Artists + Libraries Innovative Collaborative Entrepreneurship! This is a collaborative program ran by Las Cruces Public Libraries, Las Cruces Public Art, and the City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department. Our mission is to provide a vibrant platform for artists and creatives, offering unique opportunities to delve into new skills, forge meaningful connections with fellow artists and creative entrepreneurs, all within the heart of Las Cruces. At the core of ALICE’s offerings is a makerspace housed in the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library; a groundbreaking Library of Things for borrowing, and engaging arts and crafts classes.

The Library of Things offers a wide range of materials available for checkout, from baking supplies to traditional fiber art tools and everything in between. This initiative has been made possible by a generous donation from City of Las Cruces staff member Jessica Peña, who has contributed a lifetime collection of baking supplies and tools toward this effort, and funding from a recent Creative Industries Division grant from the New Mexico Economic Development Department.
