Hector Terrazas

The City of Las Cruces named Hector Terrazas as the new Deputy Director for Natural Gas and Energy in early December.

Terrazas began his public service career in 2007 as a roadway inspector with the New Mexico Department of Transportation and later joined the City of Las Cruces in 2008 as a co-op student while attending New Mexico State University. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2011 and started full-time with the City that same year as a Civil Engineer Associate.

Terrazas earned his Professional Engineer licensure in 2015 and managed multiple capital infrastructure projects. In 2018, Hector transitioned to Traffic Operations Engineer, addressing traffic concerns and collaborating with staff and the public. He became a Senior Civil Engineer in 2022 and earned his Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification in 2023.

Please join us in congratulating Hector Terrazas on his new position as Deputy Director for Natural Gas and Energy.
