Buena Vida Park

The City of Las Cruces’ Quality of Life Department is seeking artists to submit proposals for a free-standing, outdoor art piece to help beautify La Buena Vida Park, 3000 Buena Vida Circle.

The Las Cruces Public Art program seeks a local and regional artist, or an artist team, to create an art piece to grace La Buena Vida Park in City Council District 2.

The park is a popular neighborhood area for walking along the trails that wind through the natural landscape of the park. A covered picnic area is conveniently located off a small parking lot. The xeriscape surrounding the picnic area provides a perfect setting for a sculpture art piece.

The commission is open to artists and artist teams residing within a 150-mile radius of Las Cruces regardless of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical handicap.

Artists are not required to have previous experience in public art but should demonstrate a level of expertise and professionalism that is commensurate with the project scope and budget.

All submissions will be reviewed by jury process. The winning design will be presented to the City Art Board and Las Cruces City Council for approval. The selected artist or art team shall collaborate with the Quality of Life/LCPA program on the specifications and completion of this project.

Details and the link to submit artwork are available online.
