The City of Las Cruces invites residents to participate in a two-day interactive design workshop for the El Paseo Road and south Solano Drive Metropolitan Redevelopment Area Plan.
The workshop gives participants the opportunity to share ideas and directly influence the future of the community.
Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas are designated zones where revitalization efforts are concentrated to address challenges like outdated infrastructure and economic stagnation. These areas bring together government agencies, private stakeholders and local communities to foster innovation, attract investment, and enhance the quality of life.
MRAs often feature mixed-use developments, improved transportation networks, business resources and cultural amenities. They not only modernize blighted environments but also promote social equity and environmental sustainability, transforming urban areas into vibrant hubs for commerce, culture and community.
Public input is essential in the MRA process, ensuring that redevelopment efforts reflect the aspirations and needs of local residents. Through meetings, surveys, and workshops, the community plays a critical role in shaping the future of these areas. Public participation and local insight help provide context and enriches the understanding of urban challenges making the redevelopment strategies more responsive, equitable and reflective of the diverse needs of the community.
The two-day workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 and Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Real Life Church, 1040 El Paseo Rd.
Public participation is crucial in creating safe, vibrant and livable neighborhoods in Las Cruces. Don’t miss this chance to help shape the future of our city. For more information, call (575) 528-3048 or email [email protected].
