The Las Cruces Police Department has started domestic violence training for its 54th Police Academy with sessions running from Oct. 7-10.
The training is being held at Hakes Brothers Homes, 6303 Bayberry Lane, off Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.
This essential training is part of the department’s commitment to equipping its cadets with the skills to respond to domestic violence situations, which are often complex and dangerous. Over the next few days, cadets will learn how to recognize, respond to, and de-escalate incidents involving domestic violence, which continues to be a priority for law enforcement officers.
The training will provide cadets with the necessary tools on how to address domestic violence cases with compassion and the proper approach to ensure both the safety of victims and the effective resolution of these incidents.
