We are excited to announce our Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the downtown Plaza de Las Cruces.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together in the spirit of the season. The evening will feature live performances by Organ Mountain High School Jazz Band and NMSU’s official cover band, Proud Pete.
At 7 PM, we will have the honor of Mayor Eric Enriquez lighting the tree to kick off the official start of the holiday season.
We will have selfie stations set up throughout the plaza, and booths from other City departments, offering treats, fun grab-and-go activities, and complimentary hot cocoa. A variety of food trucks will also be on-site to provide delicious options for all.
And of course, no holiday celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus himself, for more photo opportunities. After the ceremony, The Rio Grande Theatre will be showing The Muppets Christmas Carol.
