Tree Lighting Celebration

Join Us for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony!

We are excited to invite you to our Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Plaza de Las Cruces.
This special event is the perfect opportunity to gather with family and friends to celebrate the start of the holiday season in the heart of our community. With live performances, tasty treats, and fun activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Performance Lineup

Enjoy Live Music & Entertainment

The evening will feature performances by local talents to keep the holiday spirit alive!

  • 5:50 p.m.: Organ Mountain High School Jazz Band will delight the crowd with festive tunes.
  • 7:00 p.m.: After the tree is lit, NMSU’s Proud Pete cover band will take the stage to keep the energy going.

The Highlight of the Evening

At 7:00 p.m., join us for the official lighting of the Christmas tree!

  • Mayor Eric Enriquez will deliver a brief State of the City address at 6:45 p.m., followed by the much-anticipated lighting of the tree to kick off the holiday season.
  • The beautifully lit tree will be the perfect backdrop for photos, so make sure to capture the magical moment!

In addition to the live performances, there will be plenty of fun and holiday cheer:

  • Selfie Stations: Capture the magic of the season with our decorated photo stations located throughout the Plaza.
  • Booths & Activities: Explore booths hosted by various City departments offering holiday treats, grab-and-go activities, and free hot cocoa.
  • Food Trucks: A variety of food trucks will be on-site to provide delicious meal options for all.
  • Meet Santa Claus: Don’t miss your chance to meet Santa Claus himself! Santa will be available for photos and to spread holiday cheer.

A Classic Holiday Movie at the Rio Grande Theatre

The celebration doesn’t end with the tree lighting! After the ceremony, head over to the Rio Grande Theatre to enjoy a special showing of The Muppets Christmas Carol.
