Summer Studio Programs–Registration dates

Register starting April 23. Each week has a different deadline to register. Call or check online. Programs offered include drawing & Painting, Clay, Mixed Media, Acrylic painting, and Watercolor. Age groups are 6-10, 10-13, 13-17, and 18+. We host painting parties on some Fridays. Call or check online for our next one.

Lunchtime Spin

Low-impact exercise on a stationary bike. Great for beginners to experienced. Choose light, moderate, or intense workouts for cardiovascular strength and work core, upper, and lower body.

Neurodivergent STEAM — Moon Phases

Join us as we explore exciting Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) topics geared toward children with IDD (intellectual and development disabilities), 0presented in partnership with NMSU Autism Diagnostic Center. Nourish your child's curiosity through hands-on activities that are meant to increase your child's involvement in the sciences. Adult caregiver participation is a must! Ages 6-10.

Zumba with Maria

A dance fitness workout open to all fitness levels. Burn calories, gain physical and mental health, endurance, and coordination all while dancing to spicy international music.

Yoga with Ivy

Promotes physical and mental wellbeing through specific postures (exercises) along with breathwork and meditation techniques. Variations can be given to support beginners to experienced students.

Lullaby Lounge

Join us with a blanket for a new music program in the Children's Kiva Room. Caregivers and babies (0-2) are welcome. Lyric sheets will be provided for those who want to learn songs and lullabies to sing to your little ones. Ages: 0-2.

Storybook Station

Join us on the second Wednesday of each month! Practice learning letters, numbers, colors, and shapes through transportation-themed stories and activities. Plan for 30 to 45 minutes of stories and activities, with more time allowed as needed. No registration is required. Adult caregiver participation is required.

Munson Library: Grandkid Storytime

Calling all Grandparents! Bring your grandkids to the Munson Senior Center Library for a short story! Log hours in the Summer Reading Challenge and win prizes!

Teen Takeover: Paper Mache

Bring your teens to hang out at the Museum of Nature and Science and Museum of Art for our monthly Teen Takeover program. Explore the exhibits, make cool experiments with S.T.E.A.M. activities, eat snacks, and socialize during these extended hours just for teens. Ages: 13-17.

Sage Cafe Game Time (and Puzzles)

Join us to play games and do puzzles every Friday from 12:30-2 pm at Sage Cafe! We do have some games, but feel free to bring one and some friends.

Have you heard of mahjong, but never played? Are you a mahjong shark? Either way, or somewhere in the middle, join us on Friday afternoons .

U Can Uke for Juniors!

Group ukulele lessons in the Roadrunner Room. 7 donated ukuleles have been provided by Las Cruces Ukes for patrons to borrow, but juniors with ukuleles are welcome to join. Registration is required to use a ukulele. Chord books and song books will be provided. For ages 7 to 18 with caregivers for younger children.

Fossils! -Information from the Fossil Record

Explore the 3.5-billion-year odyssey of life with a geologist and real fossil specimens. Visit the station in the gallery and discover something new in the fossil record each month. All ages are welcome.

How a Girl and a Monster Created Chocolate

Kids and their adult caregivers will be introduced to the Mesoamerican history of the origin of chocolate. This will include a cocoa tasting. Participants will create a painting to express what they learned during the class. This program is inspired by the Flowering of Precious Knowledge exhibit and presented in English and Spanish. Registration is required. Ages: 6-12.

Artventurous: Paper Crafts

Explore a topic from a current or recent museum exhibition through a fun, family-friendly art project. This is a drop-in program, and supplies will be provided. All ages are welcome.

History Detectives

How do historians investigate the past? What sources do they use? What kinds of questions do they ask? Find out with new, historic sources every month. Please plan for a 30-minute program with optional 15 minutes for questions if needed. No registration required. Ages: 18+.
