Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas

Keep up to date with the City’s recent efforts to revitalize Las Cruces, through tools like Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas (MRAs), beginning with the El Paseo and S. Solano Metropolitan Redevelopment Area Plans.

Share your Vision

The City of Las Cruces is working on a plan to reimagine and revitalize the neighborhoods around El Paseo and S Solano corridors between Lohman and University Avenues.  This project represents a pivotal opportunity to transform these sections of our city into thriving, pedestrian-friendly communities with a renewed focus on sustainable development and equitable growth. Our goals extend beyond revitalizing commercial and retail areas; they encompass a holistic approach to urban renewal that prioritizes infrastructure improvement, environmental sustainability, social equity, historic preservation, and public safety and health.
By reimagining this area as vibrant hubs of economic and community activity, with expanded commercial and retail spaces, enhanced recreational amenities for families, and housing options that address the city’s pressing need for additional affordable and workforce housing, we aim to create a model of revitalization that fosters inclusivity, preserves our cultural heritage, and ensures the well-being of all residents.
